Greetings. I am Michael Roston, and you are at Off Off Wall Street, my blog.
Right now I’m a staff editor on the social media desk @NYTimes, following 19 months during which I ran the NYTimes.com home page during the overnight hours. You can follow me on Twitter @michaelroston or subscribe to my updates on Facebook. I also run the Front Pages Board on Pinterest.
Before The New York Times, I developed the editorial strategy that led to True/Slant being incorporated into Forbes in 2010. I was True/Slant’s homepage editor and oversaw most of its moment-to-moment editorial operations.
Earlier, I worked as online editor for The New York Sun until the paper’s unfortunate demise. Prior to that I helped launch the Huffington Post’s original political news reporting team, served as political correspondent for RawStory.com and interned for the great James Ridgeway at the Village Voice. My writing has appeared in a handful of other places, too, and I had a whole pre-journalism life in national security think-tankery. I hold a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and a bachelor’s from the University of Iowa. I hail from the City of Chicago’s North Side, West Rogers Park if you’re familiar.
This Tumblr theme is my modification of Nine of Mine. Thanks, man.
Also, the image up top is from an 1873 edition of Frank Leslie’s illustrated newspaper, archived and digitized with the help of your tax dollars and mine.
